The American Hebrew Academy, America's Premier Jewish Pluralistic College Prep Boarding school located in Greensboro, North Carolina has proudly announced the establishment of the American Hebrew Academy Honor Society, which will recognize outstanding 8th grade Jewish students. The search for honor society nominees will stretch beyond denominational boundaries and extend around the world. In the tradition of Maimonides, the Academy believes "the advancement of learning is the highest commandment."
"To be named a member of the American Hebrew Academy Honor Society will be a great achievement," says Mark Spielman, Assistant Director of Admissions and Marketing, and Director of the Honor Society program. The prestigious honor will be accompanied by an award certificate announcing each student's accomplishments, publicity in local, national, and international publications, and an opportunity to win a renewable merit-based scholarship worth $20,000 a year to attend the American Hebrew Academy.
The American Hebrew Academy will accept nominations from November 1, 2009 - January 15, 2010. The inaugural class of Honor Society inductees will be selected by February 15, 2010. Members of the American Hebrew Academy Honor Society will be invited to attend Scholars Weekend held on the Academy campus in the spring of 2010.
"The Academy is an exceptional institution with an outstanding faculty and student body. Identifying stellar 8th grade students follows our mission of mentoring the Jewish leaders of tomorrow," says Leslie Grossman, Director of Admissions.
School officials, Rabbis, Jewish community professionals, camp directors, coaches, family and friends may nominate a Jewish 8th grade student for induction into the American Hebrew Academy Honor Society.
